PM Justin Trudeau has obsessed with Israel. Not that he fallen in love with the Jewish state after October 7, 2023 massacre by Hamas. In contrary, he criticizes Israeli government tactics in the war with terrorists and issues endless resolutions, bills, motions and statements, supporting anti-Israel UN acts and demands.
His last calls for Israel say about UN courts’ opinion that Israeli presence in the Palestinian territories is unlawful and that it should end. He repeats the International Court of Justice condemnation of Israeli rule over the lands captured by Israel after 1967 war.
“The Jewish people are not conquerors in their own land, not in our capital Jerusalem and not in the land of our ancestors”, - said Netanyahu in his response by his office. Justin Trudeau with Australia and New Zealand as well as UN and ICJ could easily apply their demands to every country in the world for conquering territories after war victories. How many states of USA belong to Mexico, and how many land in Canada was taken from native people?
At the same time Liberal & NDP government decided to ignore unprecedented anti-Semitic hate and violence across the country. Supporting pro-Palestinians and tolerating anti-Israeli marches and protests became their political strategy.
Demand of ceasefire during the war is a death sentence for Israelis who are fighting of several frontlines, but for our PM and Liberal government lack of traditional support for the Jewish communities and Israel is a political calculation for the coming elections. The number of Jewish voters is less than 0,02%. The Jewish population in Canada is about 350,000 people while Muslims approach the number in millions. Why bother themselves with Jews?
Beside this fact, Canada has history of prejudice with Jews with more restrictive policy for Jewish people than other western countries before and decades after WWII. This ugly and dark part of Canadian history was described by the great writer Mordecai Richler in his famous novels. Does current situation not remind us its shameful past?
