Valentine’s Day is a holiday that anyone can enjoy, whether you are married, widowed or single, regardless of your age or relationship status.

What “love” means when you are old? There is an Italian proverb - “One is never too old to yearn”, but is it true?

In his book “The Arc of Love” professor of philosophy, the former president of university of Haifa Aaron Ben-Zeev follows the process of how our romantic love changes over time. Even he admits the shrinking horizons with the age, but there are more positive outlook and an

openness to compromise.

Do you mention that older people are often happier and romantically attached than their younger counterparts? Maybe this is a reason for the last decades that a man in his 30s loves dating women in their 50s?

Perhaps, when we realize that our years are numbered, we change our focus on positive present without calculating future prospects. For many people the best years are in the second half of life while the young generation is more emotional than elderly.

What about sex life in your golden age of retirement? A popular theory proposes that the passionate love of our early years will transform into a companionate love prevailed over sexual passion. However, such scenario had been true in the past. With advanced medicine and lasting life over the century to 80s or 90s, it’s right to say, that 60 is the new 40,

and 80 is the new 60.

As one of my aged friend said, we go from quantity to quality, from conflict to mutual support. And don’t forget about humor and self irony that we use in our retired life.

Here are some jokes for Seniors’ Valentine:

- An elderly couple are on a date at fancy restaurant. The woman tells

the man to say something to her that will get her heart racing. He

replies: “I forgot my wallet”...

- If I have to choose between men and shoes, I will always choose

shoes. They tend to last longer.

- Why fall in love when you can fall asleep?

- I don’t have wrinkles, I have highlights.

- I am not old, I am a classic.
